Has anyone here, played on internet gambling sites from India?

Comments:

I think it is open question to debate. I have seen some people from India gamble online, but I think it is partially illegal. However if the site let you deposite then its their fault.

Interactive games? “Intellectual” games? “Stationary” games? Extremely detailed, complicated games realistic games?

Comments:

That depends on a lot of things, like your natural resistance, how bright your screen is, how fast objects on the screen are moving, quality/sharpness of the images, your stress level while playing…

The games I play are largely stationary/ intellectual/ detailed/ interactive and I’ve played for days on end with nearly no sleep without getting a headache. It is normally the case that I don’t get a headache no matter what, but there have been times where I got a headache in an hour or so for whatever reason…

What happens at midnight in a 24 hour casino?, does everybody stop playing for a few seconds and go EHHHHHHH!!! or does it juust keep gogin and nobody cares?

Does every body rush to place the first bet of the new year?
its got to be crazy what happens?

Comments:

Some casinos make a big deal out of it, some do not. The games do not stop or anything though. Here in Vegas the most interesting stuff is going on outside at midnight, and that’s where you should be.

Why should the gambling age be lowered to 18?

My friend and I are working on a debate about why the gambling age should be lowered to 18. Please help us find good reasons to argue against our opponents (who say that the gambling age should stay at 21). We want to know how people can benefit if the gambling age is lowered to 18.

Comments:

It’s real simple:

1) The gambling age is ALREADY 18. You can buy lottery tickets at 18, which is gambling. Some states offer card rooms for people aged 18. Some states have horse race betting at 18. So you are not arguing to make a radical change merely make the law logical.
2) If gambling is harmful to those under 21, explain why 48 states have lottery ticket sales.
3) If you are a legal adult, old enough to buy a home, get married, have children, vote, serve the country, own a gun, be in the military and have a machine gun, and buy cigarettes, why should be you banned from gambling? As a legal adult, isn’t it your right to decide how you spend your money?
4) Gambling is a cash cow for the government. The more people gamble, the more tax is collected, without having to force people to pay more tax.
5) Almost every country in the world that has gambling has the age limit of 18. Are we really going to argue that unlike all the other 18 year olds around the world, American 18-21 year olds are too stupid and untrustworthy to accept this responsibility?

Should medications be offered for gambling similar to those used in the treatment of chemical dependency? Why or why not?

Comments:

I think many (but not all) people who are pathological gamblers have genetic/biological disorders that affect their frontal lobe region (which controls impusivity) that can lead them to gamble excessively (bearing in mind that many gamblers don’t have a distinctive “problem” with gambling). In this aspect, it may be very genetic and/or biological.

However, many other pathological gamblers have shown similar problems as other chemical addicts – the nerve cells in the pleasure center of their brains are less active, or are less receptive to “feel good” chemicals, so they find other ways to stimulate those nerve cells. For a compulsive gambler, it may be the rush of the “big win” that actually allows those nerve cells finally to become active and trigger a pleasure response.

In these cases, some medications may be acceptable, but only, of course, if the patient/client is willing to beat the addiction (there’s obviously no point forcing a medical treatment on a person who is not willing to get away from the addiction to begin with). If the pathological gambling has a chemical basis, the best treatment would also be chemical (behavioral therapy, for example, will have little effect if the chemical imbalance or brain disorder persists). However, to other problem gamblers, cognitive, behavioral, or interpersonal treatments will likely have the best results, as their problem is primarily social or psychological.

How can i make multiplayer online flash games?

I know how to make really good flash games, but i am making a halo based games that i want to make multiplayer online. Any help?

Comments:

Well I don’t want to discourage you at all, but if multiplayer games like Halo are your goal, Flash is going to interfere with your goal a lot.

Flash just wouldn’t handle all the rendering and data streaming required. For all its ubiquity and capabilities, Flash has many shortfalls that would become instantly apparent once you try to extend it beyond it’s web media capabilities. Flash makes pretty interfaces for the web, and realistically not much more.

If your serious about your goal, you’ll need a more powerful development environment, and there’s no reason that you would have to start from scratch either. Check out the development tools from GarageGames. There’s other game development environments out there, this was just one I know because it is Mac compatible, and I’m a Mac guy.

Good luck, and add me to the beta testers list too.

How is the prohibition going to help the government? What are the bad things the government has to deal with during online gambling prohibition? If prohibition usually has a short life-span, why not make this prohibition even shorter and get rid of it next week?

Comments:

Actually I don’t think it is even a tax issue.

Bill Frist snuck this bill into a must pass unrelated anti-terror bill.

I think he wanted to do this in order to appeal to his base of crazy right wing religious fanatics. He was planning to run for president and this was going to be one of his credentials.

Unfortunately for him the Republicans got that asses handed to them in the last election. It was quite clear that even among the radical right and religious fanatics, his support was pretty poor. So his little plan backfired. But it still caused plenty of damage to the online gaming industry.

Interestingly Republican corruption being what it is, the anti-gaming legislation that Frist claimed was to stop gambling destroying families, actually completely legalized horse race betting, online lotteries, some fantasy sports betting and day trading. Nice to know a squeaky clean family values Republican can still be bought by a big enough lobby group.

So now we are left with the legacy of this stupid law. People lost their jobs, people lost their money, NETeller accounts have been frozen, and Americans are pariahs at all but a few online gaming sites.

What happened is despicable and outrageous. In the blink of an eye the law got changed, against the wishes of the majority of Americans. No discussion, no democratic process, just sneaky politics behind closed doors.

Thankfully the law does not actually set up penalties for players. It is still perfectly legal to play. But it is far harder for online companies to do business with Americans. I guess we should be grateful for that.

For my part I have joined the PPA. It would seem the only way to get a voice in government is to create a powerful lobby group. Perhaps with enough support the law will be changed. If poker is not your thing, try and find a lobby group for your particular gambling interest.

A news report today says that the former basketball star Charles Barkley has spent about 10 million dollars gambling. If he has lost that much money, why not just give it to those who could use it? Maybe he can afford to lose the money, but couldn’t that money have been used in a better way?

Comments:

Gambling in just the state of Nevada employed more than two hundred thousand people in jobs where they earned a total of more than eight billion dollars. The state itself took away one billion dollars in taxes. Over fifty million people visited the state to engage in gambling there, and spent more money on hotels, food, and entertainment which in turn employed any number of other people and was taxed as well.

So let’s not pretend that NOBODY benefits from legal gambling that goes on. If it were ended tomorrow it would put ridiculous amount of people out of work, cripple some state economies, and arguably not even stop a single addict from continuing to gamble illegally. It may be worth mentioning that there are many, many ‘respectable’ professions that are really little more than gambling as well – investing in stocks, businesses, and so on, for example.
